Online Registrations
If members need to purchase tickets, they can do this online, using Gemstone’s secure e-commerce system, which can be linked from your own website. This allows you to accept credit card payments even if you don’t currently have this ability. When members successfully complete their registration, their Sign In Tag is added to a list of members who have registered for the event. By shifting most of this process to members, manual processing of fax or mail orders are greatly reduced, if not eliminated completely.
Automatic Reminders
If you have members who are yet to register for an event, they can receive an automated e-mail from Gemstone reminding them to register. Additionally, those who have registered can receive a reminder a few days prior to the event, to help reduce the number of 'no-shows' by people who forget to attend. The advantage in Gemstone (as opposed to your staff) sending these e-mails, frees the time of your staff to concentrate on more important tasks.
Automatically Identify Members
It's easy to manage 'members' versus 'non-members' who register for events. Rather than having to manually verify every registration form to confirm member-applicants are in fact current members, Gemstone will do this automatically when a Sign In Tag is specified during registration. If the tag is associated with a current and valid membership, that member could then receive a discounted purchase price (for instance).

When someone becomes a member of the host organisation, or registers for a one-off live event, they would receive a barcoded Sign In Tag for the purpose of identification within the scope of your organisation.
At events, entry registration will consist of the attendee presenting their tag for scanning, with audible and /or visual notification (from a notebook computer) as to the acceptance of the tag. This process eliminates the need for searching a list of names to manually sign in, and it makes it more difficult for someone to sign in as another person.
The tags, which are designed to easily attach to a member's key wallet or ring, are brought to live events and are scanned with a handheld laser barcode scanner, attached to the above-mentioned computer.
